Learn Blogging  Season 4: Learn Blogging and Setting up Your  Blog.

Hey folks, Mrfash is here with the season 4 of learning blogging series and today we will talk about what we need to do after 60 days long hustling on social media and preparing a stock of evergreen pillar content for your upcoming blog.

1- Start with the CMS:

It is up to you to choose the CMS (content management system) for your blog. But as world matured and blogging expanded somehow WordPress became synonymous to blogging. But you may prefer someone else. There was a time I loved google blogger and I would prefer it if I don’t have much budget. People will say to you it is not SEO friendly, you can’t tweak it much, have no scope of growth but in a simple single word- these all things are wrong.

The only thing which is true with WordPress is you will have access to umpteenth of plugins and can do whatever you want to do without playing with codes. Same is not true with blogger and every time you need to implement something you have to dirty your hands in raw coding.
So if you have the budget for hosting and other additional features move on with WordPress.

2- Buy hosting, install WordPress and the secure SSL certificate:

I would not suggest or prefer to go with amazon web services or VPS initially. A good shared hosting is good enough initially. My favourite is a fast comet because they have all the things you need to speed up and sustain your blog when you are buying a shared hosting. If your budget is low and wanna hustle google yourself and find something good enough.

You may prefer google cloud or Amazon ECS for a year free but you have to learn how to install WordPress on their nodes.
I would suggest to buy a cost-effective hosting, connect it with your domain, install security certificate and install WordPress visiting your Cpanel. Prefer in a subdirectory if you are established company or go with root directory if you solely wanna blog.

3- Essential setups:

Don’t move for themes and plugins first correct the settings. Move to settings. Write your blog name and tagline perfectly there, choose the correct time zone and time format. Stop the registration functionality even if there are multiple authors. In media, settings stop generating thumbnails. Enable break comments, choose correct URL structure, thumbnails for comments and most important your ping list. I attached the ping URLs of websites I use in my blog’s ping URL settings to help me out for faster indexing.

4- Themes and plugins:

You need a particular look for your blog/ brand. A blog should be unique but simple in its look and just on front-end a post could be written but I would leave it and only give you fa ew important headliners. If you need more suggestions, you could ask me in the comments section.
a) Prefer a simple and minimal theme, picking a newspaper /complex design theme is not always the best. If you need them you will know itself in future. Don’t ruin it by just using a magazine theme just for looks. Magazine themes require a lot of content for the organization and you will not have them in the start.

b) Prefer a free theme but never ever go for a nulled theme. It will ultimately ruin your blogging experience. You will not get updates, security patches, may be bombarded with malwares and even malicious codes itself present. It could be possible your blog gets hacked, behaving weirdly, sudden ranking drops or even get penalized.
Don’t ruin it your blogging journey for just a few dollars. If you don’t have money to invest in theme go initially with free themes. Don’t forget to upload your logo and replacing the theme logo with your own.

c) Link your blog with google analytics and webmaster tools, submit the URL on the first day, even if you don’t have contents. Install the Yoast plugin, configure it and generate a sitemap and submit it to webmasters.

d) Install plugins: WordPress is like a brick and mortar made building, to live in it you have to make it function properly, install gates to stop unwanted people, need bulbs to see things properly. Plugins do the same and enhance the functionality. However, installing too much plugins will reduce the speed and may promote errors try to avoid moving higher than 25.

Here is the list of plugins you will need for better function and my preferred ones:-

Antispam plugin: akismat free 
Contact forms: contact7 free
Caching plugin: W3 super cache
Security: wordfence (the free one)
Subscription form: Wpsubscribe and MailChimp (both free).
For speeding optimization: Wprocket (paid one), google font optimizer.
SEO: Yoast free plugin.

e) URL and links: make a category menu suing whatever broads keywords your written articles fall in. another menu at the bottom where you need to post: about, privacy, disclaimer and contact page link. Write these pages short but unique enough it may need you sometime to write maybe 6 hours to finish it up. But do it and publish these pages as soon as possible.
